The results of our work at 3 Castle Street, Kendal (to the rear of Wildman Street) have now been published in the Transactions of the Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society. This is, as far as we are aware, the only example where the entire footprint of a late 19th century steam corn mill has been excavated, its dockside location allowing the processing of vast quantities of imported grain, although its earliest incarnation had a drying kiln that was apparently largely processing oats.
